Tatelie

Tatelie Unique Iron-Ons is a custom vinyl shop in Tucson, Arizona. The scope of this project was to design a logo and packaging unit.

Glenda from Tatelie Unique Iron-Ons reached out in Spring 2019 for help on her logo design. I was honored she hired me, not only because I interned for her in college but also because I was one of her first customers when starting her Etsy shop! (That’s my graduation, and brother photo bombing, above.)

I kept the design minimal for the primary logo. The southwest heavily inspires Glenda’s work so I decided to blend that love with a literal representation of her business, a pair of scissors. The flower icon easily transforms into the secondary logo for social media and can be easily cut on a cricut, something that was important to Glenda in the process.

When picking out a typeface, Glenda selected a font that was very popular in her shop as a sweet ode to those who supported her early on.

I also designed a decorative-use logo Tatelie to use at markets and for packaging. It takes direct inspiration from the papel picado, elaborate paper decorations from Mexico. Additional packaging prototypes were made with the decorative logo as well.
